Many indie authors say that you need a series of books to capitalise on your customer base so let's try it.
I don't recall where the idea of a 2-threaded story came from.
The development of my writer character through his hero's exploits should allow for all sorts of interesting scenarios.

At school I was told by my English teacher that I had no imagination.
Years later, I thought, "I've got an idea. No, I've got lots."
So I just started writing. I thought the story was great but I paid for a critical review and they said it was rubbish bar one chapter which they assumed someone else had written.
So I did nothing for a while.
Then I got into Sudoku and thought why not write a novel that centres around a puzzle. I got that reviewed and received some favourable feedback.
I wrote another about a Scrabble puzzle and almost got an agent on board before the world crashed in 2008.
I now publish independently and have had a bit of success, but still hopeful.
I now need to understand marketing through social media etc.

Firstly, an autobiography of my time as a ski chalet host - a series of anecdotes that might amuse, inform or shock the reader.
Secondly, the first book in a series about a disillusioned writer who gradually achieves a peace with himself through the actions of his fictional hero. Each book will have the author's story intertwined with the novel that he's writing.
Don't yet know if the idea's going to work - no harm in trying.
Rather like the film version of 'The French Lieutenant's Woman'.

Just write and believe in yourself.
Above all, enjoy it even if you have no commercial success.

I just write anything - and throw it away if necessary.
Also I have two projects on the go at the same time, as different as possible.
