Lisa Wysocky Hi Lindsay, Thank you for listening to the Horse Radio Network. I love all the shows and have so much fun when I am on. It's really a conversation among friends. Yes! Cat is already telling me about another adventure. All I can say so far is that it involves a racetrack, some travel, and an absent family member. Thanks for thinking of me and I'd love to hear your thoughts about Cat. Take care, Lisa
Lisa Wysocky Well, my protagonist Cat Enright told me most of the story. That said, I worked for a time as a publicist and artist manager in the country music industry and wanted to explore some of the challenges that new artists face. I also wanted to involve a therapeutic riding center, as I am passionate about the milestones that can be achieved in that area. The Fame Equation is the third in the series and my characters achieved a lot of personal growth, which actually surprised me!
Lisa Wysocky Everything inspires me! I have a log book of ideas and the problem is deciding which idea to pursue next. Most people can find lots of ideas to explore if they just start thinking about them. In nonfiction, I am drawn to stories of the underdog, people who have had incredible challenges and have come out smiling on the other side. This may sound odd, but with fiction, my characters often dictate the story, i just go along with them.
Lisa Wysocky I always work on several books at any one time. Right now I am in the planning stages of the fourth Cat Enright mystery, in the middle of writing another horse training book, and am ghostwriting a nonfiction book for another person.
Lisa Wysocky Learn about the business of writing, for it is a business. Learn how the book industry works, otherwise you will become disappointed. Attend any writer or reader conference or book expo that you can, and network with authors. Most are happy to talk with aspiring writers.
Lisa Wysocky Everything! I get to be creative and write about things that are important to me at the same time. Whether it is fiction or nonfiction, I love working with words, and organizing them in an engaging, entertaining, and informative fashion.
Lisa Wysocky I rarely get writer's block. I think that is because I do a lot of thinking before I start writing. If I do get stuck, I typically get up, walk around the block or put a load of clothes into the washer, and within a few minutes the problem resolves itself inside my head and I am back at the computer.
