June Kramin Already did it. Green Flash at Sunset. My best friend's murder. It is still unsolved. I didn't write the book to solve it, it's more about the MC (me) dealing with it. Poorly. I managed to add a modern twist with a romance going on in the background and the help of a surprising friend so it's not a total downer.
June Kramin Other than 3 authors, I only read books by friends. I have a 50 author event in June in S. Dakota. I can't even imagine all the new reads & genres I'll get to dig into! I'll be back with reviews as I blaze through them!
June Kramin Westley & Buttercup. Because - Princess Bride!!!! :)
June Kramin The best thing for me was finally figuring out that I WAS a writer. I had been told I would be one since the 3rd grade. When I finally settled down and started to write and ventured off and started meeting other writers, it was as if I was hit in the head with a brick. "That's why you are the way you are!" Finding my writing forum was like clutching Toto close to my body. "There's no place like home!" I was a little "off" my whole life. It was finally explained! You have no idea how that felt. At this point for me, it certainly isn't "fame and money". I'd love to add "yet" to that but I just don't know if that will ever be part of my reality. Finding yourself is far more valuable. :)
June Kramin The one I'm currently beating into shape is a sequel to I Got Your Back, Hailey. Honestly, I couldn't go to bed one night, determined to write a book around a character named Parker Peters. Yup. Spiderman in reverse. I'm not even sure why...he's not even my favorite Marvel dude. LOL. In any case, it has been the most action novel of mine yet and by far the most fans screaming for a sequel. Bullies as they are, they're getting it. I hope to be done very soon.
June Kramin Each book has been the simplest idea that just popped into my mind and an entire story flowed from there. It's that character/bully thing. For Money Didn't Buy Her Love, I envisioned someone running across the road at the same stop sign every day. It was a county road so that wasn't possible. When I finally put it down, I was surprised where the story took me. Double Mocha, Heavy on Your Phone Number came about by a story my hubby shared with me about helping someone that day. It's the beginning of the book. Of course I changed it to a woman helping a man, add some attitude & Bam! A story is born. A few stories are pulled from things that have happened in my life. The old "Fact is stranger than fiction: & "write what you know" apparently ring true.
June Kramin Don't do it!! Run for the hills!!! ;) I'm only sort of kidding. If you love to write and have characters that won't leave you alone, write. But that has to make you happy. Everything that happens after "The End" will try your patience as a human being. Find other writers to drink with ...I mean mingle with. Only they will know your pain.
June Kramin Sometimes I get funny looks for this reply, but I honestly have never had it. I'm what you call a "pantser", which essentially means I write by the seat of my @ss. My characters have always run the show. I can only imagine writer's block comes when you are at point "A" & need to get to "Z" & can't make it happen. I never have expectations of what will happen, it just does. My characters are bullies & it works. You gotta go with the flow, baby! :)
