Three poetry manuscripts. Poem by poem. Often a new poem doesn't fit with any of the three and gets coaxed into the green room where it sips a little cucumber water, nods at the other poems, and waits for someone to come and tell it where it belongs.

Write it anyway. If it's crap, give it a nod and admit that it's crap. At least it's your crap. The next thing you write may be better. You're making room for this to happen. Repeat, repeat. Shush the critics in your head and follow the language.
