Sue Mink Of course you've heard the saying "writers write." It's true, even though it's really hard to be motivated when you don't have a contract. You've got to stay in practice. The process of writing can be very unstructured unless you put a structure on it - and that's a good idea. It's good not only for yourself, but so that others respect the time you've set aside to write, too.
Another difficulty with writing is that there can be very little feedback. Even though I have a few publications that have sold quite a bit, I almost never run into people who have read my work and know that it is mine. My editor tells me what she thinks, but beyond that, I have had to learn to work to a high personal standard even if almost no one ever comments on my work.
Sue Mink The best thing about being a writer is sometimes also the worst - there is no structure to it other than the structure you give yourself. You have to be quite selfish with your time. I love the research my work requires - I learn so much and it really strengthens my faith.
Sue Mink In December, my 2016 Lenten study will be available. You can preorder it now on Amazon.
I just finished my portion of the Adult Daily Bible Study for Winter 2017. I sent it off to the editor yesterday! It's a great feeling to hit that "send" button!

In two weeks, I'm going to York England for 2.5 months. My goal there is to do research for a historically-based story dealing with English church history. It will be a new direction for me - I'll have to see where this leads me!
