Just write. Make your mistakes in your early books and learn from them.

When I find myself teaching different people the same stuff over-and-over again, it's probably time to write a book about it.

Making millions of dollars and being driven around in limosines! ...Oh, wait... That's someone else. ;-)

I give myself a break and invest my time into something completely different. Forcing it never worked for me.

In 2014, we helped a young Bengali woman who was stranded at Dallas Airport. In 2015, we flew to India to be in her wedding party as her "American parents."
A few people on Quora.com asked me to write about that experience. More than 100,000 Indians read what I wrote! Today, I have lots of online friends in India, including a bunch of young people who have become like sons and daughters to me. They call me "Baapu", "Baba", "Angel Paa", "Touji", Papa Rick", and "Dad."
This year, we're returning to India. We'll be staying with the families of these young people in five different cities. My current book project will tell that story. Scheduled for publication in 2018, the book will be called "AMERICAN BAAPU: India Through My Eyes"

After a career practicing psychotherapy, I was online helping people when I could. It occurred to me that I might take what I had learned, as well as my most memorable experiences, and put it together in an easy-to-read and entertaining way. That was a daunting task, considering that I've worked with so many rape victims, combat veterans, abuse victims, schizophrenics, etc. How does one write about such things and keep it light?
I spent nearly three years, off and on, writing and rewriting the first 100 pages until I found my 'voice'. Then it took me a month, full-time, to write the next 200 pages. After six or seven months of editing, I had written, "MiXED NUTS or What I've Learned Practicing Psychotherapy."
