F.J. Hansen Yes, it's a reference to a novelette I have planned. It actually developed as a story point toward the end of Rehatching, which helps to cover an inconsistency that develops in Fractured Dream.
F.J. Hansen Read a lot and be observant as you go about your day. Inspiration can come from anywhere.

Listen to your characters. Sometimes, they'll want to do something different than what you had planned. Sometimes, they know better.
F.J. Hansen The best thing is being able to create situations and characters and seeing them change before your eyes.
F.J. Hansen For minor cases, I'll either go for a walk or just sit and listen to music. If the block persists, I'll either go back to the beginning and read what I have or review my outline.
F.J. Hansen My major project right now involves re-writing a story I originally wrote 11-12 years ago. It follows Earth first starship which, on her maiden voyage, is thrown back-and-forth through time.
F.J. Hansen I grew up around science fiction. Around 8 years of age (1994), I began collecting Star Trek and Star Wars Micro Machines. Almost right from the start, I came up with my own stories and acted them out with these Micro Machines. After a year or so, it just occurred to me one day that I should write down these stories. After a few more years, I broke away from these Star Trek-based stories to develop my own science fiction Universe, which I'm still writing in today.
F.J. Hansen Regarding my Draconia books, ten years ago, I became really fascinated with dragons. I discovered Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern. Soon, I was inspired to create a dragon world of my own. I did so, placing it in the science fiction universe I writing at the time. From there, the story for the first book developed over the following year. Before that was done, I had found that I had a story worthy of, at least, a trilogy of novels.
