Annette Palmer Reading books and listening to music are the two things that often inspire me the most. My imagination always kicks in and I start creating tangent stories that take on a life of their own, and before i know it, I have fully developed characters living inside my head that are so far removed from their original source, that they've become their own characters with their own stories.
Annette Palmer Write what you love and don't worry about what other people think. The only person who has to believe in you is you. I highly recommend growing a social media presence and a newsletter. But really, just study and follow authors you love in your genre and see what they do, and try to emulate them. Also, read a lot in your genre. The best writing advice and lessons I ever got was from reading books in my genre and not necessarily in the craft books. I read over 100 romance books in less than a year before I sat down to start writing Hidden Monsters, and it helped me so much in understanding not just the writing, but the pacing, character development, etc.
Annette Palmer I love the flexibility and creativity of being a writer.
Annette Palmer I usually step away from the story for a while and either watch YouTube or read or clean. I am a binge reader, and i often find that reading helps me unlock my mind, even if my story isn't in the same genre as the book I'm currently reading.
