My husband and I adopted a dog from a puppy mill rescue. I am writing a novel about our experience with her, but her past is a mystery to us - how she survived and found her way into a puppy breeding mill.

Naturally, my thoughts on this question bring my own novel, FALLING OFF THE FAMILY TREE, to mind. My favorite couple is Cecilia (Cecil) and Daniel because they are from completely diverse backgrounds but share the same values. How well that holds up will be explored in my sequel, which is a work in progress.

I am writing a sequel to FALLING OFF THE FAMILY TREE. The book ends in 1970, so the story will continue from there. Many conflicts remain unresolved, so I have plenty of "grist for the mill."

I can honestly say I've never had writer's block. Of course, there are days when the words flow and days when that blank screen stays blank. But they never last more than a day.

The setting was from my own background. The character choices came from my fascination about how different close friends are from one another. Also, I wanted to portray the dignity and and close family ties that are part of everyone regardless of economic background.
