We adopted a Yorkie who (from what we were told by the rescue shelter) was abused at a puppy mill then released into the forest and stayed there alone in the rain for a week. She has made such incredible progress from when we first got her- from being afraid of everything to being highly socialized and happy. Her change was so striking that I wanted to write about it to encourage people to adopt shelter pets. She also has some funny behaviors and silly nicknames which I thought would be fun to share for children.

I have a number of nascent projects "in the hopper" as they say, including additional children's books on my pets, a series of children's books starring a central character who learns a valuable life lesson in each book, and several humor-related books including nonsense poetry and a parody of Aesop's Fables.

I start to randomly Google completely unrelated topics to get my mind clear. I find this is a great way to overcome writer's block for me. I think a lot of writer's block comes from a tendency to over-think, so clearing the mind is very helpful.

- J.R.R. Tolkien
I also get inspiration from reading random flotsam & jetsom online. Sometimes a song will inspire me. Even a phrase overheard in a random conversation can inspire me. Just looking at the world around me. Hmmm... I guess just about anything can inspire me!
