I wanted to write about two aspects of the student exchange experience: being there and returning home. I also didn’t want to leave the character in such a vulnerable place. Kara may never have a second chance to make a first impression, but Luz, Rebound attempts to show someone who has regained some amount of control over her life, and who has tried to learn and grow from her experiences.
