From the cover :) The cover for Romancing the Rumrunner was originally created for one of bandit books, but it just didn't fit the time period. However, it was so gorgeous I wanted to keep it. I thought it looked like it would fit well with a 1920s story...so I pitched an idea to my publisher with the deal that if the story was published, I'd get to keep the gorgeous cover that inspired it :)

If I'm really stuck on something, I'll usually gather a good friend or two for a brainstorming session. That ALWAYS fixes the issue. Or just sitting somewhere and allowing myself to do nothing but think. I often get great ideas in the shower or while doing dishes, I think because those are generally times when nothing else is going on and my mind can wander. And I turn to my go-to inspiration sources - usually music.

It is so much fun to get paid to daydream. I love being legally required to play with the voices in my head all day. My favorite part of the process is the brainstorming part - sitting down and mapping out a new story before I ever write a word. Editing is my second favorite part. I love taking that first draft and polishing it up :)

WRITE! No matter what else is going on in your life or publishing journey, find the time to write. Practice will never make perfect (because there is no such thing) but practice does make publishable ;-)
