Hard to narrow this down...to Dickens' London to Fagin's den (as long as I had a cloak of invisibility), or maybe with Meg through the wrinkle in time, or on the ship with Ishmael (but I'd need to survive with him). If we could change "fictional" to "nonfictional" (or at least not a novel or short story), I would perhaps go for Palestine in the Book of Luke or the American Southwest of the Navajo Creation story.

Right after commencement, I look forward to reading Viet Thanh Nguyen's collection, The Refugees. I loved his novel The Sympathiser and have been hankering to read the short stories.
