Sharon Marchisello Margaret Maron died this year, so I guess there won't be any more of this series unless another author picks up the franchise. I'm reading The Bootlegger's Daughter now, the first in the series, and it's the first book I've read by Margaret Maron.
Sharon Marchisello I'm in a book club, so those selections take priority. For summer, we've chosen “Before the Fall” by Noah Hawley, “Commonwealth” by Ann Patchett, and “The Flight of the Sparrow” by Amy Brown. I'm also hoping to have time to read some more mysteries by Hank Phillippi Ryan, as well as "The Pocket Wife" by Susan Crawford.
Sharon Marchisello My mother's father grew up in an orphanage. He died when my mother was only 12 years old, so I never got to meet him, and we know nothing about his family. One quarter of my ancestry is a total mystery! Lots of potential for nefarious and colorful relatives...
Sharon Marchisello Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler.
Sharon Marchisello I would love to see it made into a movie; in fact, I have already adapted it into a screenplay. Maybe I will pitch it in LA this spring...
Not sure who would play the daughter/sleuth, but perhaps Meryl Streep or Sally Field for the mother?
Sharon Marchisello My mystery novel, "Going Home" was shaped by my mother's battle with Alzheimer's disease. I asked myself what it would be like to try to solve a murder if your only witness had dementia.
Sharon Marchisello Life inspires me: observing people, eavesdropping on conversations, reading or listening to news stories, asking, "what if...?"
Sharon Marchisello I'm working on a new mystery with the working title, "Murder of the Cat Lady." It will feature some of the characters from "Going Home."
Sharon Marchisello Do it because you love it, not because you think it will make you rich. Have another means of support, but make enough time to pursue your dream.
Sharon Marchisello Getting to create a fictitious world where I am in control. I can make my character succeed where I have failed. My character can say all those witty things I wish I'd said. And bad things can happen to evil people.
Sharon Marchisello I don't really get writer's block, but procrastination and time management are challenges. When I'm working on a piece, reading over what I have written so far helps me get back into it. If the story is sluggish, I can take time out to write character bios.
