With my first book, I wasn't under any type of deadline. I could write when I wanted to, which meant I wrote when I had something to say. Also, I tend to just write and then edit a lot afterward.

I had the idea in my head for my main character for years. But once I started getting ill, I decided to start writing a story about her and see where it took me. Originally, she was going to going to be a doctor who finished training and went to work in another field (similar to me) with the story stemming from her career change. I decided to save that part for now and turn it into a murder mystery/ romance/family drama story.
