There was a tragic event in my family that took place in the early nineties when I was a little girl. A relative of mine, an old lady, disappeared in the woods. My uncle, who is schizophrenic, insisted that he saw her whereabouts in a dream. The family was desperate, so a search party set out following his directions, but with no success. To this day, we have no idea what happened to her. It was a large forest in the Northern parts of Courland, a primordial wilderness shrouded in myths and folktales. Many of my relatives who have lived there have some weird stories about strange rocks that emanate an eerie aura or having sensed some otherwordly presence when picking mushrooms alone in the forest. Some day, I would like to write a novel based on this event.
