A few things inspired Pacific Tails, but mostly it was because I've always loved being in the pool and when I saw a beautiful mermaid statue by Kathy Spalding, the idea of writing a book about mermaids popped into my head. I also love mystery and whodunits, and really wanted to weave a mystery into a fantasy story. It all snowballed from there.
