Guy Winch A few years ago I scraped my knee and went to the medicine cabinet to get some antibacterial ointment and a bandage. Being a psychologist, it suddenly occurred to me as I was looking through the first aid kit, that we all get small psychological injuries--like rejection or failure--just as often as we do physical ones like cuts and scrapes--so why don't we have a medicine cabinet for psychological injuries? I envisioned a book of techniques people could use at home to treat small psychological injuries when they sustained them so they didn't fester and become larger ones.
And that is when I decided to write Emotional First Aid.
