Hi Amal!
In a Perfect World started with the idea of a Christian girl falling in love with a Muslim boy and from there I had to think about who and where. So I spent some time researching countries where the population is predominantly Muslim and it was clear that Egypt was the perfect setting because it's both politically complicated and incredibly beautiful. And once I had the setting, the characters came to life.

The thing is, I would love to be the kind of author who writes sequels, but when I've finished writing a book, I usually feel like the characters are in the right place. Not only for them, but for the reader to pick up and decide what happens next. And more than anything I LOVE when a new character arrives in my head with a story of her--or his--own to tell.

I don't know how I missed this question, but I'm answering now. So happy you loved STARS! Right now I don't have plans for a sequel, but I'm not ruling it out. I'd love to know what happens next for Callie and Alex, too!

I've considered writing sequels to all of them, but the only one I've actually had any ideas about is Something Like Normal. So right now I don't have any solid plan to write sequels, but I am not ruling it out!

I have a third book coming out in June called The Devil You Know and I'm super excited about it. It's a thriller, so it's a little different, but it has the same feel as Something Like Normal and Where the Stars Still Shine, so I think you'll like it.
Right now I'm working on an adult novel, but have two more YA novels in the works, so hang in there...more books are on the way!
