Alan Dapre I write about that on my blog. There are many reasons for writer's block but only one cure. Keep writing. Quality does not matter. Just get it out without thinking too much. Write a shopping list, a song lyric, a message on this site. Do anything. Except nothing.
Alan Dapre Sharing your ideas with other people. Nothing better than watching children chuckle and their eyes light up as they get a joke, and have that 'lightbulb' moment.
Alan Dapre Believe in yourself. And your work. Allow your imagination to fly. Your writing will take off too.
Alan Dapre The final book in the Porridge the Tartan Cat series. It does not have a name but it does feature a girl called Isla who turns invisible. Oh, and a pesky guest who outstays her welcome.
Alan Dapre The world is a big place with many interesting people, places and objects. Porridge the Tartan cat was actually inspired by my dog, Skye. I thought a pet that bossed kids and adults about would be fun. He's their owner.
Alan Dapre Families are important to all of us. I wanted to write a six book series where each family member had an obvious talent. The idea evolved and I first created Gadget Grandad who does nothing on a Sunday but is incredibly inventive the rest of the week, to the surprise of his twin grandchildren.

Porridge the Tartan Cat was then created to be the 'glue' that holds each story together (Well, Porridge is kind of sticky). He cat-a-logs each adventure for 6 to 9 year old readers to enjoy.
