I've been wanting to write for children for a long, long time. I did some editorial consulting for children's books and contributed to a book for kids (it's https://www.amazon.com/Spark-Story-Bi... -- this book won an award last year) and was asked by Sparkhouse (the publisher) to create a book that, somehow, delved into the Bible passage about the Fruits of the Spirit. It was such a rich experience, creating the world of the boy and his grandma in the city (I based their neighborhood on Chelsea in Manhattan) and reflecting on how to inspire spiritual curiosity in children. I'm at work on several other books for kids.

I'm writing a book for kids about grief. It's based on a loss I had as a child (an elderly woman in my neighborhood died.)

Read a lot and write a lot. Don't talk about it. Don't say, "Someday I'm going to write..." but just do it.

Figuring out what I think and feel about something by writing about it.

I haven't struggled with this...maybe because I'm always working on a variety of projects. Maybe the answer is to keep busy and not get tied up, mentally, in over thinking any one project.

I'd enter the world of "I Capture the Castle." I want to eavesdrop on Topaz and read "Jacob Wrestling" and stay up all night talking to Cassandra.
