Kate Danley Sorry I didn't see this sooner! Teach me to stray from Goodreads... :) So, I absolutely loved urban fantasy from the moment it first started to hit the shelves with Robin McKinley's Sunshine and Jim Butcher's Dresden series. I was in a Barnes and Noble browsing through the shelves one day (this was at the height of the Twilight craze) and I realized as I stared at the covers that I had wandered from the fantasy section into the romance section without even realizing it. They were all the same. And while I enjoy a good romance book as much as the next gal, it bugged me. I was bugged that urban fantasy was taking this turn where the girl was always being rescued by the guy, or a girl was always bad at her job and just happened to stumble upon the answer, or that she had to have a boyfriend in order to be complete. I wanted to write a series with a strong heroine who wasn't afraid of getting her hands dirty. I wanted to make her a blue collar tradesperson who was good at what she did. I wanted to give her a male sidekick who was truly the sidekick, and not a force who defined her. I was also reading a lot of Janet Evanovich at the time and loved her humor and turns of phrase. Added to that, I was watching Legend of the Seeker and was really inspired with what Sam Rami did in creating Bridget Regan's character of Kahlan Amnell. So, put it all in a blender, and out came Maggie. :)
Kate Danley SPOILER ALERT!

Sadly, he did not. Some of the scattered princes were killed by the Queen and the Gentlemen and some chose to marry the Dancing Ladies and join that side. Of those who were saved and found true love, it was Iron Shoes and her prince (East of the Sun/West of the Moon), Rapunzel and her prince (Prince Charming), and Maid Maleen (True Bride) and her Duke (Rumpelstiltskin).
Kate Danley Hello, Rachael! Thanks for the great question! As of this moment, not at this time.
Kate Danley EDITED TO ADD: So, I know it's been over a year since you asked about other audiobooks. Just wanted to let you know I recently released Queen Mab as an audiobook (currently available on Audible and coming to other retailers shortly.)

Thank YOU for taking the time to read it and making a warm home in your heart for The Woodcutter! So happy to hear you enjoyed it. And great question about the audiobooks. I never know how much demand there is for them. I have a plan to read all my books and release them around Christmas time (I've been trying to do this for awhile, but every time I get up to around chapter 8 I go, "Eh... wonder what's on Netflix...") I'm coming back from a four week Shakespeare acting intensive in London, though, (...you know... as one does...) and feel like my mouth muscles are finally tuned up enough to get through eight hours in front of the mic. *crossing fingers*
Kate Danley Thank you so much for all your kind words, Ben! Right now, The Woodcutter is just a stand-alone, but occasionally I toy with the idea of a prequel about the Woodcutter's father and how the Woodcutter came to be. I really want to make sure, though, if I do it, I do it right. Thus far, the Muse has remained pretty silent. We'll see if she ever has more to say on the topic in the future.
Kate Danley The commute is fantastic and the dress code SUPER casual.
Kate Danley Glad to hear we've got some tightly-Killian-love going on! So, the elves are a free spirited people, one with the woods and the elements. They've discovered that tights let you leap through the brambles like a gazelle! Boing! Boing! Regular pants are SO human. Worse than fades and Members Only jackets. (Let's be honest. We do have some explaining to do when it comes to our runway fashions...) But the good news is that if you've ever spent anytime on Hollywood Blvd or Venice Beach, Killian practically blends in. He'd need to staple a rubber chicken to his neck to turn heads. Actually, I saw a guy doing that already. He'd have to do something pretty wacky to stand out... like dress in khakis and a polo...
