A book for me often starts with a scene. The scene pops into my head for lack of better terminology. From there I work to know the characters. Who are they? Why are they there? From there I unravel their story. Other times it is, a ‘what if’ that sparks the idea for a story. Much the way scientists conduct experiments I take characters and wonder what happens when _____. The unfolding of the story is the equation and results of the ‘what happens, if’.
