My latest book is Space Puzzles: Minkie Monster and the Birthday Surprise and it is all the fault of my 3 year old. I was trying out a drawing app on my tablet and drew the character which later became Minkie. My son loved it so much, I drew more of him and began telling stories about him. I love puzzle books and buy puzzle magazines for my son, I wanted to combine the two ideas of the puzzle book and a story. Who doesn't want to occupy their little one with something educational every now and again? I spent a few weeks putting the idea together and Space puzzles: Minkie Monster and the Birthday Surprise was born.

Anything can inspire me really. I've watched sci-fi shows and it has given me an idea or just walking my son to school can give me another idea. For my Accidental Immortal story I joined National Novel Writing Month. My friend's username had a dragon in it, I love ancient Egyptian stuff and I wanted to write about a female protagonist on an alien world. Voila, the idea came together.

I am currently working on my Minkie Monster series for children up to 6. My little one is 3 at the moment so he gets to test all the puzzles and I am very lucky to have a couple of 5 year old cousins who test out the older puzzles in the books.
For my adult writing I am nearly at the end of Accidental Immortal. I'm saying adult but there is nothing a fourteen year old shouldn't read in the story. I'm not that kind of writer! It's a fantasy story set in a fictional colony set up by ancient Egyptians called Duat. A college student finds herself abandoned on the planet with no way back.
For my technical guides I am still doing the Simpler Guides series and the next one due to be released is A Simpler Guide to Google Sheets.

The best thing I think about being a writer is sharing stories and helping people. It is why I write in two different genres, fantasy and technical guides. I used to be a Librarian and that was the one thing I truly loved about that job. Helping people to do what they needed to do or find the perfect book used to make my day. I am doing the same thing now but I am striving to write that perfect book!

So far I haven't had to deal with writer's block but then I am a bit of a writing butterfly. I move to different projects if I get stuck and go back when that is done. I have several books on the go at any one time! There aren't enough hours in the day to get all the work I want to get done.
