Brettney Thompson I'll let you know when I figure that out ;) I think it's really easy to fall hostage to a writer's block. Most of us are busy, with kids, jobs, sports, families, pets, etc., so it becomes easy to push off writing. When I get in 'funks' like this, where my writing has to take a backseat, I try to make a conscious effort to at least keep planning and adding notes to my phone as often as I can.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Brettney Thompson Leaving a legacy behind for my kids has to be the best thing about being a writer. I love the idea of my children growing up and having their own collection of books and having a few of my titles on their shelves.

How do you get inspired to write?

Brettney Thompson A lot of times fun romantic comedy movies will help to inspire me, or even reading other romcoms. I do find I have a fun and vast imagination, so I might hear a little snippet of something on a podcast and think of how I could make that into a story.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Brettney Thompson A lot of people say, "Oh, I could never write a book!" But you can! You are the only thing standing in the way of making something happen. If you really want it, then put your mind to it and make it a priority :)
