I am currently working on Red Hot Summer in the Big Smoke, which is the sequel to Anywhere But Schuylkill and part 2 of my Great Upheaval Trilogy. The main character is Tara Doyle, the younger sister of Mike Doyle, the protagonist in my first book. It takes place in the days leading up to the Great Upheaval, the strike wave that broke out across the U.S. in 1877, in which 100 workers were killed by cops and militias.

I'm really into the history of social movements, particularly the labor movement. When I learned about the mass execution of 20 Irish miners in Pennsylvania on trumped up terrorism charges in 1875, I was both saddened and intrigued. How could this travesty have happened and with so few people knowing about it today? So, I really wanted to rewrite this story, but from the miners' perspective.
