Essie Fox For The Last Days of Leda Grey, I saw an old silent film of Morcambe Bay, made in about 1901. From that point on I knew I wanted to write about Edwardian films.
Essie Fox Places. Pictures. Objects. Almost anything can set me off, and then my imagination runs wild. But I do like to start with a focus on something tangible, something I can see. For that reason I often visit art galleries and museums.

Think things through. Do it because you love, not necessarily for fame and fortune - which may come, but may not.
Essie Fox Being able to live in other worlds, to pretend to be other characters, and to indulge in daydreams and fantasies - and all in the name of working.
Essie Fox I don't really get writer's block - what I do find is that I end up ignoring a lot of ideas, because I simply don't have the time to explore them. I've learned to be more focussed on the whatever project is in hand, when ideas seem to flow from one scene to the next.
