Since Luna Rising, my first women's fiction, is releasing on June 25, I decided I would read some other women's fiction authors this summer. After all, summer is the perfect time to take a break from life and delve into a character's life--and I enjoy reading about how women cope with problems. So I randomly chose three books to read with the theme of "keeping" in common: The Secrets She Keeps, The Secrets You Keep and The Things We keep. They all look good! I relate to the struggle that comes with "keeping" in all different ways. Do you?
I might also seek out a Janet Evanovich book for comic relief. My character Sunny is a lot like Lula in humor, and maybe Luna is a bit like Stephanie Plum (in spunk and romantic confusion), Let me know if you agree. Happy summer reading!

Hi Traceylee,
Years ago, when my first book was published, I met Lurlene at a book festival in Kentucky. We were signing books next to each other, and struck up a conversation. When I sold The Girl Next Door, my publisher asked me if I knew any authors who would read my book and "blurb" it. Blurbing a book means giving a recommendation for it, which can be used on the cover and/or to promote the book in general. Since Lurlene is the queen of these kinds of books, I thought of her and asked. She said yes!

Hi Traceylee,
I'm sorry, but The Girl Next Door is not available right now. I have changed publishers, and my new publisher is re-releasing it - but it won't be for awhile. If you want read it now, it's still available in paperback. I'll send you a signed bookplate to put inside one if you'd like.
You can always contact me through my website, SeleneCastrovilla.com. I also have a Facebook author page, and I'm on Instagram and Twitter.
Thanks so much for asking, and wanting to read my book! When you do, let me know what you think :)
Sincerely,
Selene

I don't get "blocked." If I don't know where to go next in a book, I make something dramatic happen which the characters must respond to. Or, I write a later scene which I see clearly. The thing is to get something down daily. The longer I'm away from writing, the harder it is to return.

Sitting down and starting is the hardest part. It's not inspiration, but concentration and focus which plague me. I force myself to write, even when I think I have nothing to add at that time. I can usually find something decent mixed in there. The idea is consistency. You can write about anything - it's your unique spin on it that counts.

Knowing that I've made a difference in someone's life. My mantra is "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." And I am! I love getting e-mails about what my books meant to people. I love doing the thing I was meant to do.
