I enjoyed immensely your Letters to Saint Lydia. I read it for suitability as a gift to a young Orthodox girl. When she is a little older, I will give it to her. Out of curiosity, what inspired you to write this particular book? As a fellow author who is also Orthodox, I'll definitely add your other books to my To Read list!
Melinda Johnson Thank you, Donna! I wrote Letters to Saint Lydia because I wanted to get to know my patron saint better. The story started from the idea of writing letters to a saint, and then took on a life of its own!

Hey, so I'm a big fan of your adult novels (St. Lydia and Bonfire), I was wondering if we could except to see any more of these in the future?
Melinda Johnson Thank you, Nicholas! My next book for adults is a collaborative effort, written with a group of friends. It will release in the Fall of 2020!

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the book. There are currently no plans to translate the book, but I would welcome the opportunity if it arises.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Melinda Johnson Read and live. Be self-aware. Don't make things up. Learn about life. Digest it. If you do that well, you won't have to "write about what you know." What you know will already be the wellspring of your writing.

How do you get inspired to write?
Melinda Johnson I don't know, exactly. I think we write the books we are given. Some combination of thoughts and memories and words suddenly converges in my brain. Sometimes, it passes quickly, like cloud patterns. Sometimes, it stays. If it stays, I write it.
