I can see Cape Cod leaning heavily into nautical tales, but an 'environment for memoirs and cozy mysteries'? You mean due to the retiree market demographic?
Also, are you asking if the WNO speakers were interesting? They were nice. But I recall one speaker was billed as an expert on using social media to promote your book - but he was mostly into Twitter and hadn't written a book. So, yeah... Well-intentioned but not exactly helpful.

Inspiration doesn't come from a single source. It's a mulch of dreams, life, work, and prayer.
For me, it's a matter of writing even when I don't 'feel' it. I have come to realize 'feeling' will engage once I press through the accreted lethargy, reasons and excuses.

Truth is, my head is loaded with bad ideas and I occasionally manage to get one out and hammer it into half-decent shape.

Of course I want reward and affirmation, but the deeper satisfaction is the ability to exercise/challenge my imagination, and who I become in the process of creating a finished piece.

Write stream-of-consciousness, sights, smells, sounds, dialogue, anything without concern to edits or order until the logjam breaks. Doesn't have to pertain to my current project - whatever I need to get out of my system. Lots of raw material surfaces that gets worked later.
