Brandy Bruce Of course!

Once upon a time a woman woke from a deep sleep. Upon going into the kitchen, she realized that there was no coffee.

The end.
Brandy Bruce The idea for my new book The Last Summer came to me way back during my first year of college. That is a season of life where friendships are paramount of course, hence the major theme of friendship in the book!
Brandy Bruce I would probably dive into the pages of Harry Potter! I'd love to have dinner at Ginny and Harry's and practice a few spells!
Brandy Bruce Probably Jamie and Claire from the Outlander series. It all comes down to the way they love each other. It's deep respect, borderline obsession, passion, and loyalty.
Brandy Bruce Yay! A budding writer already! The best thing is to encourage her creativity. Be willing to listen to her stories. Be proud of her imagination. Buy special spiral notebooks for her to start her own stories. Definitely encourage her to be a reader. Take her to the library and let her check out books. The better reader she is, the better writer she'll be. Sometimes the library or rec center will have children's authors come to speak. Taking her to events like this helps foster a love for books and helps kids realize that there are grown ups who write as a profession. If you can find workshops that teach creative writing for youth, that would be great as well.
Brandy Bruce I'm currently working on a novel about seven friends who live in Texas--the way they interact with each other, the friendship/romantic dynamics of their relationships. It's a story that's been in me for a very long time so I'm thrilled to see it coming together.
Brandy Bruce Well, if I'm working on a contracted novel, I have to just keep plugging through because there's a deadline looming. Usually, I'll take a night to watch a favorite movie with a bowl of popcorn, hoping to get inspired. Or I'll just lock myself in my office and write, even if it ends up needing to be reworked. If I'm working on something that hasn't been contracted yet, there's a lot more flexibility. I'll take some time away from it. Then I'll come back to my work-in-progress, hopefully with fresh eyes.
Brandy Bruce Keep writing and dreaming. In some ways, it's harder than ever to break into the business of being published. In other ways, it's easier than ever with the self-publishing avenues available. It depends on the road you take. But the truth is, if you have a story to tell, you can find a way to publish it in this age of e-books and self-pub opportunities. That being said, a writer needs to tell his or her story well. So find an editor. Work at your craft. Take advice and cues from readers. It's harder than it may look. But it's worth it. To see your story in print--for a writer, that's the greatest thing ever.
Brandy Bruce The truth is that I've loved writing since I was a little girl. I think my love of reading and books is what first inspired me to write my own stories. When I'm in the thick of writing a novel, however, music inspires me. A great movie inspires me. I like to just sit at my laptop, with a warm cup of coffee, my Spotify playlist on low, and see what comes to me as I type. Being with other writers or readers often inspires me. After book club night, I want to write! After a writers conference, I'm itching to get to my laptop!
