I have just come through the other side of a long break after finishing Resolver, which was the sequel to my first book, Tome. I'm in the middle of a short story that I've been thinking about writing for a long time, and I'm also deep into the planning of a new novel, not set in the Resolver universe.

Always finish your writing session at a point that you want to continue. I never finish mid-sentence or in the middle of a transition scene, or something slower paced and character building. That makes it hard to get back into the flow properly.
Full on Writer's Block very rare for me, but if it happens I just take a week off. Or longer. I do things that make me feel fulfilled in other ways, like play a great video game, see a few movies, do the things that I want to do to forget about everything else and try not to read much in that time either. Stepping away from it is the best advice I can give. Write something else, something short, even something you will just throw away, is good too, then work your way back.
