Being an author is more than writing novels. Depending on where you are in your writing journey, there are promotional videos/posts, writing/polishing query letters--book synopsis, taglines, book blurbs--updating blogs or newsletters, researching agents/publishers and noting their MSWL lists and when they are open for queries. Don't think of a lack of inspiration as a block; Think of it as time you can spend on crossing off the rest of the things on your to do list as a writer. That way you never feel defeated because you didn't get anything accomplished.
