My inspiration came in the form of my teenage niece. She had been so upset about how one of her favorite series ended. (Let's just say a very important character dies.) That I ended up promising her I'd write her a book. In doing so I found my love for writing and this amazing community of writers.
What made it even more special is that she was a sounding board for a lot of the ideas that went into this story, and she got to help name some of the characters. So it is truly her book.

For this story, I really just figured it out as I went along. Which meant I ended up completely rewriting it from it's original form. I'm still a panser for the most part, but now I like to plot out some of my plot points before I get started so I know in what direction I need to go. (But then again that is always up for negotiation.) Thanks for the question.

I'll narrow my advice down to two things:
1) Keep going. No matter what, your story matters and someone will love it. The publishing world is so subjective and it's easy for Impostor Syndrome to set in. So you have to just keep moving forward no matter how hard it is, because persistence and dedication pay off.
2) Allow yourself to make mistakes. Being a writer is a learning process, and along the way we all make mistakes. It's okay. Admit them and move on. We've all been there.
