Susie,
They eventually do have cell phones, but initially Claire doesn’t because she doesn’t have a job and is tight on money. So is Ronnie. On top of it, cell service isn’t the best in Jackrabbit Junction.
Thanks for reading my books and I hope you get some chuckles out of the Jackrabbit crew.
Hugs, Ann

Hi Lee,
We have yet to find out the particulars about the lack of ice cube trays in the Deadwood Mystery series. If I remember correctly, Zelda and Zeke are having trouble with their new refrigerator’s ice maker working now. :) Stay tuned for more of Violet’s world this spring in Deadwood 11, Devil Days in Deadwood.
Thanks for reading my books and taking such a fun interest in the stories!

Hi! I actually come to NW Ohio (Defiance County, for example) to do book signings/talks each summer. I haven’t selected the libraries I’ll be at in 2020, but if you sign up for my newsletter (on my website: http://anncharles.com/connect/) you’ll learn about locations when we have them nailed down. I hope your sister has enjoyed my Deadwood Series!
Thanks,
Ann

Kristopher,
Thank you for the kind words about my Jackrabbit series. I’m glad you are enjoying the Morgan sisters, too. I have a lot of fun spending time with them on the page. I hope you enjoy meeting Veronica in book 3 of that series, The Great Jackalope Stampede. She is one of my favorite characters. I really appreciate you taking the time to give me a review on Jackrabbit Jitters. Reviews are gold and help authors so much.
Thanks for taking the time to write to me and for cheering me onward! You should consider joining other fans of my books in Deadwood someday for the Ann Charles Fan Party weekend we do at the end of June. It’s a lot of fun.
Happy reading,
Ann

Thank you for your interest in my audiobooks. Following is the status on my newest releases:
In Cahoots with the Prickly Pear Posse should be available as an audiobook in December 2019.
Life at the Coffin Joint will be available sometime in 2020. We are still in the process of finding the appropriate narrator for this project.
Fatal Traditions will be in early 2020, most likely. I haven’t contracted with a narrator yet.
Take care,
Ann

Lj,
There are a lot more Violet Parker novels to come (yay!). My Dear Reader letter in the new Deadwood Short explains why I released FATAL TRADITIONS before Book 11 in the Deadwood Mystery Series. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more Violet inspired excitement and hilarity!
Cheers, Ann

Hi Liv, thank you for reading my books. I'm glad you enjoy hanging out with me on the page. I love Violet's sarcasm. She makes me laugh while writing her story a lot.
How do I develop my characters so well? I try to make them with flaws to make them more real. I have plenty of flaws to spread out to all of my characters, LOL. I also read their dialogue out loud several times in an effort to make them sound like everyday folks. Mainly, though, they unfold on the page in their own way that makes it easy for me to tell their stories in their own voices. I've always had an overactive imagination and finally I found a career where it pays off.
Thank you for writing to me!
Hugs,
Ann

Victoria, I do go on tours, but mainly in NW Ohio, South Dakota, Florida, and Arizona at this time due to having two young kids that travel with me (we stay with family and friends in these locations). I hope to see you at a signing one of these days! if you ever feel like coming to Deadwood, I have a fun fan weekend there every year at the end of June. :) Hugs, Ann

Victoria, Deadwood #10 is out! DON'T LET IT SNOW IN DEADWOOD will answer some of your questions and probably leave you wondering a few more--Violet has a way of doing that. ;) I hope you enjoy the next segment in Violet's story. Happy Holidays from the Deadwood crew and me!

Hi Alex, thank you for joining me at the Adams House. That was an exciting day that ending with that crazy hail storm. I hope you managed to escape injury and damage from that. That's interesting about the Fallout Shelter. The Opera House is an amazing building with so many uses in the past. I would have loved to have seen it back in the early years.
As for writing dialogue--I read a lot of what I write out loud when editing it, listening for the cadence and flow of the dialogue. Plus, I try to make it look on the page how we often speak for real. I appreciate the kind words on the dialogue flow. I'm always working on improving my writing in all areas, including dialogue.
Take care,
Ann

Hi Linda, playing catchup on email and Goodreads tonight. At this time, I have my hands full keeping up with my three different series and the Deadwood Shorts. I do plan to include more Shorts and maybe something that might explain some more about various characters. I'm working on a few things at this time, too, along these lines, so stay tuned. As for Doc, I keep pestering him to tell me more about his past, but he and Cooper are very stubborn about sharing.
Thanks for reading my books and writing to me.

Sherri,
Thank you for reading about Violet and her gang. I think you will have to keep reading to find out. Violet only lets me know what she is doing when I write in her world.

My mother is adopted and we only have a name for her parents. She is not interested in learning more about her "blood" ancestors, but I am. Who knows what we might find if we dug deeper into our family’s past?

Hi Paula,
I’m currently working on the 4th book in my Jackrabbit Junction Mystery series. When I finish with this one, I will begin writing Deadwood #7. I hope it is done and release sometime during the summer of 2016.
Please tell you Aunt that I am glad she enjoys Violet’s story. Thank YOU for reading them to her.
Big hugs to both of you!
