Hi Kevin. I was just reviewing everything I read in 2018 and was remembering how fricken good Where the Sun Shines Out was. Hopefully you got some more brilliance in the pipeline. Can you recommend a book for me? Something I should read in 2019. Thanks and Happy New Year.

Kevin Catalano Hey Kevin! Thanks very much for saying so. That means a lot. I'm working on another book now. (In fact, I'm taking a break from a scene that's not working to write this.) I doubt it will be published any time soon.

I just looked at the books you've read and see you've already read a lot that I was going to recommend. (You have great taste.) One that you haven't read is A Little Life. If you didn't mind/liked the bleakness of my novel, I think you'll love/have the stomach for the disturbing nature of A Little Life. On the other hand, there's a lot of beauty and tenderness in it, too. I'd be interested to know what you think.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Kevin Catalano Don't major in English/Lit but read a ton. Write the stories you want to read. Write for your own entertainment and sanity. Don't take advice.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Kevin Catalano The enormous satchels of money that mysteriously arrive every morning on my doorstep at 9:00 AM (10:00 AM Sundays). Really, I don't know what to do with all of it. It's gotten to the point where I burn half of it.
