I've certainly written myself into a corner several times, and I do the same thing when writer's block puts a temporary restraining order on my imagination -- Sit down and write.
While the first thirty minutes to a half hour of any writing session may be all gibberish, the very process unlocks your mind to more positive and useful prose. Even writing about what you had for breakfast or what you did yesterday will open your mind to new ideas for the story. Never stop. Never make excuses. Sit down and write.
