Robert Sells I'm thinking about stories all the time. I see a man step out of a moving van. He sees a young girl and his tongue laps across his lips. Is he just looking at her? Or does he see a possible victim, a person to grab and put into his truck? He looks back and sees me staring. His eyes are flat...
Robert Sells A novel about a young woman who suffered two traumas in high school. Writing was her way to heal. Then her therapist suggested she return to her home town. There she started having relationships for the first time. One with the county sheriff, one with the village police chief, and one with a visiting FBI agent. All were involved with a murder twelve years before, all presently investigating a similar murder today, and one of them, she is sure, is the killer. She's just not sure which one it is!
Robert Sells Just start writing. Don't wait. Write, create, edit. Then, maybe, tear it up and do it again. Just write.
Robert Sells Being able to reach my readers and give them some joy in reading a story.
Robert Sells You don't "deal with writer's block", it calls the shots. When an idea emerges from your brain, then you start writing. Anything and everything about the idea.
Robert Sells My most recent book is a science fiction novel called Revelations. It is about first contact and a space invasion. However, the "invasion" is not done with spaceships and laser battle (Star Wars, etc). Rather, it is unique and scientifically possible. I've always enjoyed science fiction. However, my definition of SCIENCE fiction is that the fiction is restricted by science. Clarke and Asimov both had stories based on science, not fantasy. Star Wars and Star Trek, by my definition, are not science fiction. Instead, these great platforms for stories are fantasy fiction. But, how would alien cultures clash together, if not by spaceships? That is what my book, Revelations, is about.
