Brainard Carey Long walks for sure! As well as a good museum too :)
Brainard Carey Writing a book is like planting a tree or gardening or having a child, it is a gift in some way to yourself and to the world. A deeply satisfying experience.
Brainard Carey Go for it! Start with just a title, then write a one paragraph summary of the book. Then stop. Then the next day write down the names of 12 chapters. The next day, write a summary for each chapter (what will be covered) then begin to fill in the blanks.
Brainard Carey A memoir about my experiences with death in the family as a child and how our memory is not always reliable but serves other functions in the process of survival with traumatic loss.
Brainard Carey If I waited for inspiration, I'd never write! I start with an outline (title and chapter list) then I fill in brief summations of the chapters and start writing one at a time. Long walks help me get un-stuck.
Brainard Carey The most recent book which will come out in the Fall of 2020 is a new edition of my first book, Making it in the Art World - which is updated for the next decade with new information and tactics for artists all over the world.

I am also working on a memoir about death in the family and how we cope with loss and memories.
