I basically outline the entire book from beginning to end before I start working on the first draft, and I usually build the world as I go through the drafts of the outline.
Everything ends up in Scrivener, but after playing around I determined that the "bible" that I need to create has to live in a separate document from the book itself.
I'd say the pre-writing is about 30% of the total writing time, although it can be more if I'm starting a new series.

My most recent series, the FooL, came from an inspiration to try and recreate Doctor Who as a genre, but to do it from a fantasy angle, rather than build it out of science fiction elements.
And while it still retains some of the same basic elements (a mysterious traveller, and a companion), it has, like any good homage, blossomed fully into its own—becoming what I believe is a truly unique story.

The main inspiration is the terrible pressure that builds up in my head if I don't get to write for a while.
For me, a big part of the writing process is extruding the ideas from my head at rate that lets me feel somewhat "normal".

Write, write, write, and write.
Beyond that, a big fan of process and prose—both your own and other writer's.
As you write more and more it pays to become a relentless editor of your own work. The more time you spend crafting your words the more fluid your language will become. Once it flows like honey on a warm summer's day you'll be done!
Of course, it's never summer every day...

It's great to be able to get all of these ideas out of my head and onto the page where I can transform them into entertainment for my readers.

I'm currently editing the second draft of the last part of Season 01 of The FooL.

I call it "novelists disease". I can remember when I thought 100K words was *impossible*, but the more books I write the longer they seem to get.

I don't believe in writer's block. Being an author is about the hours spent in front of the screen. If you don't spend the time, you're not going to get the result.
