Gail Lukasik You're welcome. Destroying Angels, Death's Door and Peak Season for Murder are the three books in my Leigh Girard mystery series. The Lost Artist is a stand-alone mystery. I'm currently working on a historical mystery, Death Comes to New Harmony.
Gail Lukasik Hi Kerstin, Thank you for asking that question. FGW Production optioned the book in 2019. Right now they're in talks with someone I'm not at liberty to name about doing a TV dramatic series. Of course, the pandemic put everything on hold. But I'm hopeful it will happen. Best, Gail Lukasik
Gail Lukasik Hi Edie, I was on the Season Two, St. Louis Central Public Library. My understanding is that the best place to see the entire episode is ITunes. It cost $2.99. You could also see if you library has a copy. I was also on the Season Three's special episode--"Our Favorite Stories." I hope you're enjoying White Like Her.
Best, Gail Lukasik
Gail Lukasik Sitting on my patio on a summer afternoon reading is one of my favorite pastimes This summer I'm excited to read: Anything is Possible (Elizabeth Strout), Killers of the Flower Moon (David Grann), The Stars are Fire (Anita Shreve), The Day I Died (Lori Radar-Day), The Late Show (Michael Connelly), Into the Water (Paula Hawkins), and Celine (Peter Heller). I'm sure as the summer goes on I'll be adding to that list. But it's an awesome start.
Gail Lukasik In 1995 I discovered my grandfather and his entire family was listed in the 1900 Louisiana census as black. I had no idea. When I questioned my mother about her black heritage, at first she denied it, then she swore me to secrecy until her death. I kept her secret for 17 years. In 2015 after her death, I revealed her secret on PBS's Genealogy Roadshow. Three days later the family I never knew found me.
Gail Lukasik One of my favorite fictional couples is Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane. The relationship between the two always seemed to me to be one of equals, based on respect and love. My favorite Wimsey/Vane mystery is Gaudy Nights.
Gail Lukasik I'm working on a historical mystery (yet to be titled). In 1943, Helena, a courier for the Polish underground rescued two Jewish children from the Warsaw ghetto during the worst winters of the war. She never knew what happened to the children. Then in a chance encounter in a Chicago doctor's office, Helena thinks she sees the girl, Leah. But It can't be the girl. It's 1969. The encounter plunges Helena into psychosis. To recover Helena has to remember what happened to Leah.
Gail Lukasik If I can't write through the block, I put the book aside for a few days and then go back to it. Journaling also has been helpful in breaking through my writer's block.
