Lesley Kagen I loved THIS TENDER LAND. An absolute stunner. And, of course, Louise Penny's newest A BETTER MAN was excellent, as always.
Lesley Kagen Hi!

It reminded me of something my mother used to tell my sister and me when we were kids. "If you two want to stay in my good graces, you better ______.
The blank would be filled in by orders. "clean your room." "walk the dog." "mind your ps. and qs."
Lesley Kagen Hi Carol,

I don't approve of the way children are diagnosed and classified these days, something that would not have been done when I was growing up, so I purposefully let Birdie's behavior speak for itself, and left it up to the reader to draw whatever conclusion they like. Is she autistic or emotionally insightful or gifted in some way? For sure her heart is in the right place and maybe that's all that really matters. That's for you to decide. Thanks for the question. Hugs. Lesley
Lesley Kagen My favorite fictional couple? Currently it's Tessie and Charlie from THE MUTUAL ADMIRATION SOCIETY. Young love is a powerful awakening that few of us ever forget. Especially if it's bound to a shared loss.
Lesley Kagen Hi Stacy,

Many thanks for reading The Mutual Admiration Society, Stacy. Hope you love! As of right now, there are no signings planned around Chicago, but who knows what'll pop up. So please stop by my web site www.lesleykagen. com to check every once in a while, okay?

Again, thank you!

Hugs. Lesley
Lesley Kagen Morning, Dana,

Thank you so much for loving the O'Malley girls! Not sure when I'll get back to them and their hijinks, but you might like THE UNDERTAKING OF TESS, until I do. It's a story of two sisters, too, the Finley girls, set during the same time period and just a few miles away from where Troo and Sally live. (I have a sneaking suspicion they all might bump into one another one of these days.) I'm also writing a story called THE MUTUAL ADMIRATION SOCIETY, which features the Finley sisters. Sort of a cross between WHISTLING IN THE DARK and one of Alan Bradley's wonderful Flavia du Luce books. A quasi mystery full of nostalgia.

Thanks so much for rooting for me! So appreciated!

Hugs,

Lesley
Lesley Kagen Morning, Pat,

Right now I'm reading Louise Penny's new one, The Nature of the Beast. Next up, X from Sue Grafton. And I can't wait to jump into Ivan Doig's, Last Bus to Wisdom.

So nice to hear from you!

Hugs,

Lesley
Lesley Kagen Hi Manori,

My books are available in e-versions via Kobo, Amazon, iTunes, and Barnes & Noble. My new one will be released on Tuesday, December 9th in the same places as well. Thanks for asking! Hope you enjoy them!

Hugs,

Lesley
Lesley Kagen Morning, Kim,

Thank you for the kind words, and for starting my morning out with a grin. I'm so happy you're enjoying Gibby making her way through the world. That girl is an inspiration to me.

My cream city farmhouse was built in 1901. Throughout the years it has been polished up, but many of the original details remain. Like the lovely beams in my living room, the wood floors, and my fireplace is larger than my first apartment. (It was designed to cook wild game.) There's a big red barn with a white silo, and out back a stand of woods is home to deer families. To me, it's perfect, and I'm so lucky to have found it.

That's what I think about that:)

Hugs,

Lesley
Lesley Kagen Hi Julie,

Depends. I think it'd add to your reading enjoyment to get a grasp on how the Finley girls' childhood impacted them before you move on to their later years. On the other hand, I had a reader tell me they read The Resurrection of Tess Blessing first, and found it interesting to have the back story fleshed out even more in the novella. Coin toss?

Thanks for asking!

Hugs,

Lesley
Lesley Kagen The novella is a prequel to the novel THE RESURRECTION OF TESS BLESSING that will be released on October 14th. After I finished the novel, I really wanted to explore the Finley sisters back story, so... voila! I'd never written a novella before, so there were some nerves. Turned out that I absolutely loved writing a shorter story.
