It is never to me about "writer's block". I can write non-stop. But the problem is whether the words are the right words.

the personal insights...the solitude...the being selfish for good reasons. Clarity and commitment. When you get your words down on paper (or any publishable medium) things become clearer. When you publish those thoughts, they become a commitment.

Do it. First for yourself. And then; when thinking about the audience; and ask yourself "why am I writing". If it's just for myself - then wouldn't simply silence and though suffice. But if you are putting it to paper, for others to read - then find the balance. What is the impact of your words on someone else. If it is positive - hit enter; if it is negative - hit delete.

The Visitor is the first release of the Corvus Chronicles (an 8 book series). Although The Visitor is the first one published, it is number 7 in the series. Books 1 and 2 which are prequels to The Visitor will be released together and are called The Stranger and The Beloved. Book 3 (The Crossing) follows the story line, then book 4 is "The Calm Before", book 5 is "The Storm", book 6 is "The Awakening". The Visitor is actually book 7, and the last book (#8) is The Visitor - Revisited.

I literally sit in silence for a long time thinking. Then I try to figure out a way to present my thoughts in a poetic parable. I find this method effective as the parable is about a deeper meaning than the actual words. The hope is that the reader can reflect on similar issues yet take their own meaning, and inspiration from events that are important to them. It is about developing a way to tell a story which uncovers the truth for the reader rather than ever trying to argue "what is right". Then when ready to right I actually clear my mind in prayer and light 7 candles on a large and somewhat ugly candelabra which has 6 candles on the outside and a middle candle made of three candles. Weird I know, but it puts me into the moment.

It is a book that has been following me for years. Influenced by the writings of Thomas Merton and Kahlil Gibran; but through a personal lens. The book crosses from fiction to non-fiction without notice or apology. The driving inspiration is based upon true events of being followed be a crow while contemplating some of life's more intense moments.
