Gary Fidel I don't force it. I believe in structure - using a notebook to let ideas flow and grow without pushing too hard.
Gary Fidel Spending time with characters I have grown to know as though they are personal friends.
Gary Fidel My strongest advice is: Be Patient! Let yourself develop as a writer, no matter how long it takes. I started writing stories in the 5th grade, and then continued writing in high school and college, taking all the writing courses offered. I have also studied with a writing teacher who was an editor at a major publisher and I have taken the Robert McKee main course and his thriller course. Through all that time, I continued writing both fiction and non-fiction. I am now 69 years old and I can honestly say that it's only now that I feel like I know what I'm doing as a novelist.
Gary Fidel I am finishing the fourth novel in the Rick Sands series and I hope to have it up for pre-pub purchase on Amazon in January, 2018. I have purposely limited all the novels in this series to E-books and they are all priced at $2.99. The actual pub date will be March 15, 2018. This one also follows the same small circle of characters from the earlier books, and the action stems from the events depicted in the previous novel in the series.
Gary Fidel I am a retired career prosecutor, but I have been writing since the 5th grade. After retiring, I was so thrilled to have the freedom to use all my time to write, I find that having that time is my inspiration. I don't want to waste even a single day.
Gary Fidel My most recent book was Sands Writ, which is the third book in the Rick Sands series. All three of the current novels in the series involve the same set of characters and while they are crime novels, they are also focused on the lives of that small circle of characters as they change over the course of the series. Sands Writ developed from the previous book in the series and the core of the story grew out of the events in the second novel of the series.
