For "Conquering Concussion" it was seeing life-altering changes in injured military veterans, martial artists, and migraineurs treated with biofeedback and neurofeedback by Dr. Mary Lee Esty. In the course of conversation I learned that she needed a brochure. "No," I said, "you need a book." And so it went from there.

Can't write? Fine. So TALK (to yourself or another) about what you're trying to write and why it matters at all. A close second is e-mail and explaining the problem to someone else. Amazing what comes out of these just because it's not "really writing."
