Thank you for the question! To be honest, I'm not sure how I do it because it's not a conscious decision. In other words, I never ask myself, what would a woman say or do here. When I'm writing Mary Cooper, she's a real person to me and she just kind of takes over.

Thank you, Elaine! Almost all of my research for the book was done with people who lived through the events described in the book. Not ALL of the events are true, of course. But in this village, at that time, the term Germanesi is what was used. I'm not sure if it was technically derogatory or not. I also thought it was easily understood for non-Italian speakers. Thanks for your question!

Hi Tara - thank you so much for the question! I apologize for the delay. I didn't find the book difficult to write, mainly because I've been to that village in Italy in person, and I was able to speak with a lot of people (some of them family) and I heard their stories firsthand. It was a very enjoyable book to write and yes, I do want to write more. Thanks again!

I get the idea for HEAD SHOT when I saw an interview with a famous actor. The actor said he gets approached on the street all the time by people who talk to him as if he is the character he portrays. I wondered what would happen if the wrong person made that mistake.
