Just plow on through. I work full time and I'm a mom. I don't have time for writer's block. If I make the time to write. You write. You might erase most of it the next time you sit down, but there are words there and some of them are going to be good!

It's not the pay, that's for certain. There are some months I can buy a latte and those are months for celebration! It's the freedom. The ability to create, for me, that's the best thing, then having people want to live in the worlds you've created. I love that sharing of creation.

It's cliche because it's true--if you want to write you need to write and read. Read everything, even the back of the cereal box and write everything. Write nonsense, write bad poetry, write decent poetry, write everything. Eventually, you'll realize you've become a writer.

FLAMES OF THE FALLEN--Hawke's story from the Fallen series. It should be a novella, but Ascent and First were supposed to be novellas too. Then it's on to REDEMPTION OF THE FALLEN. I have to continue with Asha's story from Shades of the Fallen.

There are always ideas out there. For example, I recently joined a gym and found inspiration there. Bits and pieces of the gym are finding their way into my new story.

FIRST OF THE FALLEN was supposed to be a short story. Then it was supposed to be a novella. I was intrigued by the angels Nathanial and Semiazas in Ascent of the Fallen. What would make an angel fall? What would make him turn away from the light? As for Nathanial--how did he lose his eye? Their stories actually started to parallel one another which make them a natural fit to put together in one volume. From there the stories actually wove around each other--going from one book with two stories to one cohesive novel.
