Stacey Carroll Bob opened the cabinet above the coffee maker, envisioning delicious, hot coffee on this cool fall day. As he lifted the container from its labeled spot, he realized it was lighter than he thought, when he opened the lid, there was no ground coffee in the canister.
Stacey Carroll hehehehee..... Anyone can ask me a question. I can apparently even ask myself a question. Does that count as talking to myself?
Stacey Carroll I'm just always motivated to write. If I didn't need sleep, I'd write 24 hours a day. I've had 35,000 word weekends. I'm a writer. I can't not write. With that being said, I've had some stuff recently where the story was mood based. I had to be in a certain mood to write it. For Avia, that was a late evening book. I did my best work in the late evening. The Factory was an overnight book. It had to be 10:pm or later before I was ready to write that one.
Stacey Carroll I am currently working on The Factory, which is a supernatural thriller. It's due out in August. Then, in December, I am releasing AVIA III.
Stacey Carroll I set my own schedule. This is my profession, I get up in the morning, and I write until I go to bed. If I feel like taking a day off, I can as long as all my deadlines are met. I haven't used an alarm clock in something like 9 years. That is an awesome thing to me.
Stacey Carroll I don't believe in writer's block. You can be too physically tired to write. You can be too mentally tired to write, but anything else is just an excuse. the only way you are going to get it done is to do it, and I've written so long and so many words that I was too tired to string any more words together. At that point, I go to bed, get up in the morning and hit it again. Now, if I get to a scene that I can't see, I skip it. I'll put some basics in parenthesis and move one. Then, when I get don eand go back through it, I add those scenes.
Stacey Carroll My inspiration for Avia I - Thunderstorms and .45s started with my grandpa, who was a Vietnam war pilot. I'd go over to grandma and grandpa's house, and he'd tell me stories of flying airplanes. That ignited my desire to fly airplanes. So, I went to college to get a degree in aviation. I flew Cessna 152s, 172 and the Piper Seneca. The Pipe Seneca was by far my favorite airplane. I loved adjusting the propellers and engines and raising and lowering the landing gear. that's how we ended up with a female pilot. The rest of it was just drawing from my own life. Dysfunctional family. Questionable jobs. Like I was a flight instructor out in TN. And the owners of this place didn't fit. they weren't from there. None of them were. They were from the East Coast. I didn't think too much about it until I walked in one morning in my flight instructor outfit - slacks, polo and long black trench coat. I should say I entered through the side door rather than the front door. And just as I entered, the owner was walking down that hall. All he saw was the trench coat. he jumped back 3 feet and looked like he was going to have a heart attack. His words - OMG, I thought you were here to *ahem* assassinate me. I looked at him and went - eh . .well. Not today. he went his way and I got to work. Of course, I was like - This may not be a um very legitimate business......
