Jeff Ingber Nan,

Thanks so much for your question, which I take as a great compliment. And for your wonderful review of my book.

The way I look at it is that I had no choice but to write the book, as if it were an addictive physical compulsion. I suppose it helped that I had a sense of the horrors that my parents and others went through from a very early age (although I didn't really know all the details until I began researching Bela's Letters). I also found that I was able to separate writing the book from my personal feelings, as a doctor treating terminal patients might. And I knew that part of the narrative was a happy one - my parents and other family members survived.

Writing is an arduous task, and readers like you help make it all worthwhile! Thanks again and please stay in touch. You can reach me at jingber@gmail.com, or through jeffingber.com Regards, Jeff

Jeff Ingber An interesting but tough question, because there are so many possibilities. I just watched "Forrest Gump" again, so I'll go with Forrest and Jenny. Their relationship is at the core of that wonderful movie, and its roller-coaster ride has enormous depth and passion. Every time I watch the movie, I am moved by the love they have for each other, which persists in spite of all the obstacles.
Jeff Ingber Susan, thanks for writing. My dad was Ingber Bela, from Munkach. Where was your father from? How do you know that our fathers were friends? Where do you live now? Thanks, Jeff
Jeff Ingber Susan, thanks for writing. Sorry, but those names aren't familiar. What country did they come from? What did your dad write about?
