The best thing about being a writer is the pleasure I get when people enjoy my books. Each novel is an experiment in communications, and I'm always open to hear from readers whether they think I've succeeded or not.

I have never experienced writer's block. Writer's block is a result of someone feeling constrained by expectations s/he either did not set or did not consider properly when s/he agreed to them. I have goals, spelled out concretely, but I don't beat myself up if I depart from my plan. I may adjust my goals, but I listen to my "subconscience" mind and if it tells me it wants to stop work on one novel to write a chapter on another, I go along.

The concept is simple, yet profound. What happens when a child goes in a direction that conflicts with the parents' beliefs and values? By raising the stakes, I made this a story I believe every parent will immediately understand and also want to know how it plays out.
